Dollar General Return Policy

Since the 1950s, Dollar General has provided a wide range of goods at competitive costs. There are several options available to customers shopping at the business. However, if you are dissatisfied with your purchase, you might be curious about Dollar General’s return policy.

Purchases made online and in-person are both eligible for returns. You must return both with your receipt and any products in their original packaging. All merchandise must, however, be returned within 30 days after purchase.

Additionally, returns for online purchases must be made online; contact customer care for information on how to return an online purchase.

Refunds for online purchases are subject to the shipping and handling fees deduction. Purchases made in-store must be returned to the retailer with the original packaging, receipt, and any papers or extras that came with the transaction. Some goods need to be replaced.

DG’s Return Policy

Sometimes when we buy something, it doesn’t work out for us for whatever reason, and we have to return it. Thank goodness the majority of retailers allow returns. The same applies to Dollar General. If necessary, there are steps you may take to return a product to Dollar General.

For things purchased both in-store and online, Dollar General has separate return policies:

  • Products that customers buy in person must be returned to a Dollar General store. At the register, the shop workers will help you with a refund.
  • You must first contact customer service if you want to return an online purchase. After that, you’ll get return guidelines and a special Returns Authorization number.
  • The product must then be packaged in its original container. Use safe packing if not.
  • Include the product with the billing name, address, and order number.
  • Send the item to the address provided by customer service.

Return Window Duration

Customers of Dollar General have 30 days to return items they bought online as long as they are still in good condition.

The information needs to be more consistent regarding the return period for things bought in-store. Customers were permitted to return things in some circumstances up to 90 days after making the purchase.

Return of Damaged Products

Within 30 days after delivery, you must contact Customer Service if an online item is damaged or faulty. They’ll refund your money and pay for your return postage. You may reach them at 877-463-1553. The product’s item and order numbers are in your initial confirmation email.

Non- Returnable Products

There are a few exceptions to the general rule that most items purchased offline or online can be returned. For instance, unopened alcohol returns must be made to the store where you purchased it.

Additionally, Dollar General does not accept cigarettes or other tobacco goods returns. Gift-wrapping services, prepaid cards, and gift cards cannot be returned. Most other items are returnable as they are undamaged and have all their original components, etc.


How long do refunds at Dollar General take?

It will take between 2 and 4 days for the refund to show up on the account if it is handled as a CREDIT (regardless of whether you used a credit or debit card). It should appear immediately if handled as a DEBIT transaction, necessitating entering your PIN throughout the return procedure.
